Yunus assures full medical support for injured Nur

Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has inquired about the treatment of Gano Adhikar Parishad President and former DUCSU VP Nurul Haque Nur, who is currently undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

According to an official from the Chief Adviser’s Office, Yunus spoke with doctors over the phone on Friday to learn about Nur’s condition and assured that all necessary medical assistance would be provided.

Dhaka Medical College Hospital has formed a high-level medical board to oversee Nur’s treatment.

On Friday night, violent clashes broke out in Bijoynagar between activists of the Jatiya Party and Gano Adhikar Parishad. BNP leader among three dead after violent village feud in Bangladesh

At least three people were killed and several others injured in a series of clashes between two rival groups in Netrokona’s Jamati village, triggered by longstanding disputes over land and family matters.

The incident occurred on Saturday night in Mougati Union of Sadar Upazila. Police said the violence stemmed from tensions between two families in the village, escalating after the killing of a local BNP leader.

The deceased have been identified as Dujahan Mia, 48, a ward-level BNP leader and former member of Mougati Union Parishad; Nur Mohammad, 30, son of Abdul Kader; and Rafiq Mia, 46, all residents of Jamati village.

According to police and local sources, Dujahan Mia was returning home from the district BNP conference on Saturday night when he was ambushed and hacked with sharp weapons. Locals rushed him to Netrokona Sadar Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Following the killing, Dujahan’s supporters launched a retaliatory attack around 10:30 PM, leaving Nur Mohammad and Rafiq Mia critically injured. Nur Mohammad died shortly after being taken to Sadar Hospital, while Rafiq was referred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital in a critical state but later succumbed to his injuries.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kazi Shahnewaz of Netrokona Model Police Station said the bodies had been sent for autopsy. He confirmed that raids were underway to arrest those involved in the violence. Additional police have been deployed in the area to prevent further unrest.

Authorities reported a tense atmosphere in Jamati village following the incident, with law enforcement on high alert to maintain order.
