Milk auctioned for Tk 13,000 in Kishoreganj - a rare act of generosity

A litre of milk was auctioned for Tk 13,000 in Astagram upazila of Kishoreganj — not as a commercial deal, but as a powerful example of human generosity.

The auction took place on Friday (October 31) before Jummah prayers at the premises of Brahmpara Al-Hossainia Jame Mosque in Kastul Union. A local farmer donated one litre of milk, which the mosque committee decided to auction.

The bidding started at Tk 200 and quickly rose to Tk 13,000 when freelancer youth Moniruzzaman Durjoy outbid others, including the mosque’s treasurer Idris Mia, who had offered Tk 12,000.

Durjoy later gave the milk to a poor man, saying, “I wanted to contribute to the development of Allah’s house. Bringing joy to someone’s life gives me the greatest satisfaction.”

Mosque Imam and Khatib Maulana Nazrul Islam Zahuri praised the gesture, saying Islam encourages competition in good deeds. He confirmed that the proceeds from the auction will be used for mosque development.
