On Sunday (24 August), a joint team from the upazila administration, Forest Department, Water Development Board, and Tourist Police conducted the eviction drive at Moukali area of Munshiganj Union. The team demolished four foot trails, a round stage, and an office building of the resort named A&N Travel and Tours Resort Center.

Officials said the structures, built without approval, violated environmental and forest laws and posed a serious threat to the Sundarbans’ biodiversity. Earlier, the resort owner was instructed to remove the facilities voluntarily but failed to comply.

The drive was led by land officer Sanjoy Roy, accompanied by engineers and forest officials. According to locals, the resort was developed around eight months ago by Khulna-based Mahabub Alam, who claimed to be an influential tourism businessman.
