ACC seeks red alert against Sheikh Hasina and son Joy over plot forgery case

Bangladesh’s Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has requested police headquarters to issue a red alert against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy in connection with a plot forgery case.

On Thursday (September 4), investigators sent an official letter stating that both accused had fled abroad. The letter noted that warrants have been issued by the court to identify their whereabouts and bring them back to face trial.

Meanwhile, testimony continues in Dhaka’s Fourth Special Judge Court against Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, niece Tulip Siddiq, and others in three separate cases related to alleged Rajuk plot allocation irregularities. Although the High Court acquitted the accused last December, the state has since filed an appeal, which is under hearing.
